This is a big undertaking and will inevitably be filled with surprises and challenges – that is the nature of the beast. All our contractors are licensed and insured and have a proven track record. FLOORING

There are so many types of flooring out there now that it can be a daunting task to choose the right one. It is our job to bring the choices to you and help you choose by looking at the needs of the house i.e. low traffic or high traffic.

Ah the importance of “mood” lighting can make such a difference to a room, and the light fixtures can change the dynamics of the room dramatically. Always consider size – if you have high ceilings you can accommodate a larger light fixture. Pot lights add great mood, especially with a dimmer, which is good for all lights.

WINDOW TREATMENTS

Many times a room can appear cold even though it has window treatments, if there is a lack of fabric. Even just framing the window in fabric can change the feel of it considerably.

PAINTING

Painting is the easiest and most inexpensive way to transform the look of a room or whole house. Colour is important so we invite the client to determine the mood they are looking for in order to choose the right colour. For open concept homes, be aware that the colours have to flow as they will be visible from each room.

FAUX FINISHES

Whether its Venetian plaster, suedeing or other techniques, they can sometimes be more permanent than regular paint so we advise our clients to be sure they really like the technique and possibly consider using them in a smaller room or as an accent piece.

WALLPAPER

Wallpaper is back and in a big way! There are some fabulous designs out there, but it is key to make sure that the paper is hung professionally – it can be an expensive lesson if its not. With so many designs it can sometimes be a daunting task to find just the right paper to make a fabulous statement – that’s where the designers of Décor Amour come in!

DESIGN

That’s where the right designer can make all the difference. I have heard so many horror stories of designers who were oblivious to the client’s needs and were unable to interpret their personality. A designer is like your hairdresser; it might take a while to find the right one but once you do, you’ll stay with them forever. One of the acknowledgements that we consistently receive is that we are able to bring design and flair to our clients but at the same time incorporate their taste and personalities.

SHOPPING

Shopping is an integral part of the design process. If you don’t know where to shop and have no idea of prices it can be a time consuming and frustrating experience. Knowing where to shop and being effective with your time can make a big difference to the bottom line.
